Katharine runs her travel tips and musings newsletter Cherry Press – a space filled with tidbits about life in the Cotswolds, insider guides, industry interviews, recipes and Oxfordshire murmurings.
Half the fun of going away is the research. Finding the tables-to-book, the coolest hotel, and that teeny tiny shop that sells the prettiest handmade slippers. A lot of it is combing through endless tabs, the odd website and Instagram locations – but I’ve always loved this part, spending the time collating, collecting and curating the destinations I’ve been to and want to go. Searching through those feeds, the magazine spreads, my favourite publishers, sites and brands who are already in-the-know. It’s where the joy lies.
This is where Cherry Press comes in. It’s not like an old-fashioned travel planner, but rather a source of inspiration for the best insider spots – the under-the-radar delis, the hotel with brilliant design and the café that also whips up a perfect Negroni for five euros. This is also where I’ve collated my best countryside stories – from the pubs to eat at, the inns to sleep in, the walks to get mucky on and the shops to splurge at.
